The long awaited update to the cycling merit badge is out. Mountain biking is now an option with shorter mileages. No mention one way or another on doing the requirements with a tandem though.

I very much like those requirements. I see scouts on organized tours riding that 50 miler regularly and there is no reason for that not to be an option.
