I viewed the link. It gives some information on archery which was useful. As far as learning to shoot it still should be under the direct coaching of a qualified individual.

The easiest way to get the archery merit badge is to participate in a JOAD program run by a local archery range or shop.
http://www.usaarcheryjoad.org/Some archery ranges offer free lessons on a regular basis; in the Los Angeles area,
Pasadena Roving Archers has free classes every Saturday morning.
At the very least, your local archery shop or range should be able to put you in touch with a qualified instructor, if not a registered merit badge counselor.
