For Requirement 4a:

To find properties in the National Register of Historic Places simply use NPS Focus at

http://nrhp.focus.nps.gov

Also, the NPS has changed some URLs from what is listed in the BSA's Scouting.org site. Information regarding listings is now at

http://www.nps.gov/history/nr/national_ ... entals.htm

Many merit badges overlap for various reasons which is why Scouts and MBCs need to CAREFULLY read the Annual Requirements and the actual merit badge pamphlet. A few word or sentence differences often change the objective(s) of the requirement and the relationship of other requirements for the badge. This often occurs with visit MB requirements. Too many Scouts, parents and MBCs take a one size fits all approach to specific requirements and miss the point of the learning objectives of the badge.

1st Aid requirements overlap because:

Repetition builds profficiency.

The MB pamphlet follows the Red Cross standard and there have been changes. For example, several years ago there was a CPR change. I had Scouts complete 1st Aid MB under the then current standard only to complete Swimming/Lifesaving under the new standard a few months later.

GET AND READ THE MB CURRENT PAMPHLET FOR ALL MBs
