For Cycling Merit Badge, can the 50 mile ride be an organized ride with many riders? By organized I mean there are like 10000 bikes and marks on the road for navigation. Are organized rides okay for the shorter rides?

The scout here should ask the MBC if that would be acceptable. I have seen several scout troops on some of the organized rides in this area working on and /or completing that requirement for the merit badge. Both of mine finished theirs that way.

I do not see anything in the requirements prohibiting organized rides to meet requirement 7 or 8. If a scout were to use an organized ride for requirement 8, I would probably spend a little more time discussing route planning since that is already done by the ride planners.

As long as the organized ride meets the 8 hour requirement for the 50 miles or the distance requirements for any others, should be no problem but ask the MBC.
