So the cycling merit badge is supposed to be updated for with mountain bike option. No mention of tandems though. (although I will have to admit tandem mountain biking is a little nutty)

My GUESS would be January 1, 2013, at the earliest, when the next edition of Boy Scout Requirements (BSR) is issued.
If they get the revised MB pamphlet done before then, they could release that booklet with the new requirements before January.
OTOH, they may hold off on adding the new option to BSR until they get the pamphlet revised, if that takes too long, so the info they want to include us available.
Bottom line - we'll just have to wait and see.

I think 1 Jan 2013 is the date they are shooting for. Cooking MB is also being reworked to come out about the same time. I think Cooking will include Dutch Oven cooking while riding a tandem mountain bike.
