Gearing up for the Hiking MB and wondering if any other MBC who have taught the Hiking MB have any ideas for some games or such to break up the five 10milers and one 20miler hikes... besides "I spy..." LOL
Prolly more for me than the scouts.... but, just something to pass the time and make it more memorable.

Find a MBC for Nature, Mammal Study, or Bird Study to accompany you. Or if the boys like to sing, a Music MBC.

Yeah I thought about doubling up an MB with it... Lord knows we'll have the time!

Create bingo cards with nature pictures. Make sure the cards do not have the pictures in all identical spaces. As the kids find the item, they cover the picture. We have used space pieces of post-it notes since they stick temporarily.

In My World never gets old (as long as not everyone knows the secret).
"In my world, there is green, but no blue." "It's a beautiful world."
"In my world, there are trees, but no forest." "It's a beautiful world, too."
"In my world, there is bippity-boppity-boo, but no fairy godmother."
etc, etc, etc. The key is double letters. Scouts who know it try to be more and more clever (the last is more clever than the first). Those that don't will try for an hour to figure it out.
Or, I'm Going on a Picnic
Wagion: "I'm going on a picnic and I'm bringing watermelon." "You may go."
Paul: "I'm going on a picnic and I'm bringing beer...er, root beer." "You must stay home."
Lambeau: "I'm going on a picnic and I'm bringing lunch." "You may go."
Easy when it's written down (you bring things that start with your first initial), but can be difficult if you have Scouts with non-phonetic names. Thaddeus bringing tuna, Philip bringing punch, Errol bringing Eskimo pies.
We usually give the youngest one in tow a little bit of a hint where the others can't hear.

We did a couple hikes on trails that had geocaches on them and stopped and found them along the way.
If you don't take care of the Cub Scouts there will be no Boy Scouts!
