For those looking at working on the photography meritbadge...The requirements changed last year to include digital cameras.

Well, my troop just finished this meritbadge. We opted to take pictures of a "Subject" and select 20 of the favorite ones. Then created display boards or slide shows.

I took the scouts to our local zoo (open even durring winter). They LOVED it. It was one of the funnest meritbadges they worked on.

New Photo requirements

Postby lesterli » Thu Jan 11, 2007 4:21 pm

Hi. Can you tell me where I could find the new Photography merit badge requirements? Do I need to buy the book, and if so, is it in stock at most scout houses now? thanks.

I haven't looked to see if the new requirements are posted, but you can check either and/or both MeritBadge.com and US Scouting Service Project to see.

I consider the question of whether you need the book to be a different issue and easier to answer. YES.

Why do I say that? Because the merit badge booklet contains a lot of information that will guide you into the completion of the Merit Badge. I always suggest that a Scout taking a Merit Badge get the book and read it completely through. Keep in mind that they are small booklets or pamphlets and it doesn't take very long. That's just my thoughts on it.
