Are Rifle and Shotgun two separate merit badges? I thought they were and my son is taking both of them at camp next week but the picture on the website shows the same badge.

These are two separate badges
If it is not written down then it is not an official rule

The badges themselves are very similar in appearance.

and then the council even gets to go as far as to sell the empty ammo casings for the copper!
Would you be so kind as to share more information on the ammo program?

All I know is that they have somebody who supplies them. I'm not for sure who or how exactly.

I don't know the details of how this works. I just know that it happens. There may be someone at the council office who knows about it, but I don't know who that would be and have never cared enough to find out.

OK...It is through the Civilian Marksmanship Program. I just e-mailed your council camping director and asked.
Current prices are $149.90 for 5000 rounds. That is .0298 per round shipped. Any registered unit can order rounds for thier unit use as well.
Our crew will be placing an order once we meet with the treasurer tomorrow evening. The crew is working the Shooting Sports elective of the Outdoor Bronze/Ranger Award.

Shameless bump.
Hops_scout: Would you be so kind to tell me the name of your council so I may contact the Camp Director and ask him how the ammunition is obtained from the manufacture?
