I wasn't sure what forum to put it in, so I figured here was good.
I am taking Scouting Heritage at MBU, and one of the Pre-requisites is requirement 8 ("Interview at least three people [different from those you interviewed for requirement 5] over the age of 50 who were Scouts. Find out about their Scouting experiences. Ask about the impact that Scouting has had on their lives. Share what you learned with your counselor.")
My unit is almost completely first-generation scouts (i.e., their dads weren't scouts), and the adults that were scouts aren't over 50. I was wondering if any of y'all could help me out a little and (assuming you're a past scout who's over 50) tell me a little about yourselves.
Thanks,
cdwscout

Question to the masses: if he interviews Wagion, does he get credit for two interviews (50+50)?

Well, 50+50 would quite literally be
adding to the requirements (pun intended)

Do you have a VA hospital or nursing homes in the area? Many of the people there never get visitors. If you call in advance, they can ask the residents who qualifies and set up an appointment with your Scout. He could conduct three interviews at once, learn a lot, and make someone's day.

Although there is nothing against doing virtual interviews, nothing beats a face-to-face chat with an old scouter about how it was in his day. Ask your MBC for help.

Wow, great comments, but no actual answers. Does anybody want to actually answer?
Thanks,

Answer: No, I think you should do face-to-face interviews. An online forum with people you've never met seems like a BIG shortcut. Unless there were extenuating circumstances, I wouldn't accept it.

I'd like to emphatically re-state:

I'd say a face-to-face interview is necessary to meet the requirement. Personally though, I would also accept an interview conducted via video-conference.

We could write a paragraph but I gave you the advice to ask your MBC at the event on whether he/she would even accept it. A little more effort on your part to find scouters in your local area that you can meet with is the best way to accomplish this requirement.

District Round Table would be a good place to find members of the Old Goat Patrol!

Sorry, that last post was from a tired, slightly sick, and a little annoyed me. Thanks for the input; I'll see what I can do about finding someone to interview face-to-face!
