Personal Messaging

I am just wondering why personal messenging is disabled. I was looking at that the other day and was just wondering.

When the forum was started the owner decided that since we have adults and youth on the forum he would not activate that part. It is a youth protection thing

RWSmith: thanx for the email.

Still, I don't understand why you would send a user a PM when the feature has been disabled and the user won't be able to read it.

Seems kinda pointless . . .

I understand your point; but, well... (I know this sounds cheap...) I didn't write the software.

The PM you received was automatically generated by the s/w as a result of an admin action. Even the admins have PM disabled... So, no "person" on this board can send a PM. However, as the s/w evolves, we're trying to make use of some of the newer bell and whistles... even though PM is disabled. I'll work on it some more.

And thanks for the input.

RWSmith, thanx for helping me understand the process.

I guess in the future, users could simply ignore such auto-generated messages; OTOH, the message was generated for a reason, and I didn't want to ignore it at my peril, which is why I reached out to the moderators -- I suppose in the future, that's the best we can do, right?

And of course, try to avoid doing things that caused the message in the first place!
