The server this web site sits on was attacked. The web server was back up in about ten hours but apparently one of the web sites on the server had been infested with a copy of the attacking program and when the system was rebooted the attack reoccured. So the host company had to physically search all 500 web accounts on the server to find any remaining problems before they could put the server back up. This took about a day and a half which is why the boards were down for two days :(

As you may have noted, the boards are having some difficulties. The recent attack which shut this web site down for two days was initiated through a phpBB forum on this server. I do not know if it was this board or another one but considering how new this one is, I doubt it started here.

Unfortunately, it looks like the host service may ban the use of phpBB software. Because of this, they may do little if anything to correct the current bugs. And if that happens, I'll have to start all over from scratch for a third time :(

I'm active on another board that also uses phpBB. It is http://forums.bateau2.com/phpBB2/. They had a security breach a few months ago that might (or might not...) have started through phpBB. You might drop their administrator a line and ask what his experience is. Tell Fritz I said hi.

If you email me your email address, I can get you in touch with Fritz via email.

Good luck.
