Becoming a Merit badge counc.

Postby ogunquitmaddy » Thu May 02, 2013 3:40 pm

Hi, I am hoping someone can answer a question for me. I printed the form to become a merit badge counc. I believe it is form 42. It is the form that is used for you to list the badges you would like to be approved for. My question is do I also have to fill out that Adult Application? I don't want to be a leader, just a councilor.

You will also need to complete an Adult Application. There is a spot on there in which you will indicate you would want to be a MB counselor. You would submit both of these forms.

Also, you most likely (and not a bad idea) will need to take Youth Protection Training online.

http://www.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/34405.pdf is the correct form

you need YPT training that you can take on scouting.org

you need an Adult application. The Position Code is 42

http://www.scouting.org/sitecore/conten ... tions.aspx Take the additional training found at this link

Guide to Advancement Chapter 7 is also a useful reference for all MBCs

Hi,
Just one more question. I have all the forms. Since I have to full out the adult application also does that mean I have to send in the 20.00 and also have to get a physical or can counc. get by without the physical. Someone had told me their was no fee to become a MBC.
Thanks

No, you don't need a physical, and you were told correctly that the $20.00 fee is waived for Merit Badge Counselors (position code 42).
