The Laurel Highlands

Hey all anyone thinking of visiting the Laurel Highlands now is the time to do it. Tourism is way down at Ohiopyle and Laurel Caverns. Most outfitters have cut rafting prices during the week and anyone wanting to cave or climb at Laurel Caverns reservations are not a problem.
If you pick up the Latest issue of Backpacker there is a great article on the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. We use a good part of this for our Trek out of Eberly Scout Reservation Camp Conestoga. COntact Westmoreland-Fayette COuncil BSA for Trek and Camp Information.

Amazing We putour Kayaks on the Middle yough at 10am this morning and never saw another boater for the 2 hours we were on the water. Water conditons were perfect and we saw a few wood ducks and their broods. When we went back to confluence to pick up my Jeep we did see a few more hitting the water, these were individuals not large groups like we are used to seeing. The parking lot at the Falls in Ohiopyle was half empty very inusual for such a beautiful summer day.
