hi - our Cub Scout pack is starting a hiking program this year and we've heard from other packs that the miles will "transfer to Boy Scouts". But we can't find any information as to what exactly it transfers TO - and also, what we need to do to ensure we're recording the correct information for the scouts. Our hikes will be day hikes approximately 5 miles in length each, so nothing huge, but a Tiger could accumulate a lot of miles by the time they become a Boy Scout. Can anyone assist?

They will not work for any ranks or meritbadges. It will only be that a child will be able to say I have hike so many miles. that is all. When you do cub scout things they are cubscout things. When you do boy scout things they are boy scout things.

Here's your reference on page 44 of the Guide to Advancement.
All merit badge requirements must be met while a
registered Boy Scout or Varsity Scout, or a qualified
Venturer or Sea Scout. Accomplishments before
joining, or while a Cub Scout, do not apply.
This would also apply to rank requirements.
