Philmont Leave No Trace?

I took "Leave No Trace" training at Summer Camp. While I agreed with much of the material and opinions presented, some of it seemed a little "over the top". The instructor stated that while out on the trail at Philmont, you are required to pack out your own solid body waste (as opposed to burying it). True or false?

Our fall District camp-o-ree is Leave No Trace. We have two leaders that went to the training at Philmont summer of 2006 and got the training. I think the best topic is Poop soup!

That's no true. There are....erm....wooden toilets that we referred to as pilot seats because they had two of them facing opposite directions.

The last time I was at Philmont, you buried your business if you had to go while on the trail. The campsites all had pit toilets to use. I think there are wilderness areas in the US (some areas of the Sierra Nevadas I believe) where the use is so great, and the enviornment so fragile, that everything must be packed out. (Poop tube)

I wouldn't consider it a "wilderness" area if there are so many people you have to pack out your poop.

No, there are not alot of people. Wilderness areas generally have limited access, but, the point is, there are some ecosystems that are so fragile, even the limited number of people that visit them will have a negative impact if they don't pack out all their waste.
