Philmont Trek in 2010

I just got the information sheet from the registrar of Philmont about how to enter the "lottery" for a chance at a 2010 Philmont Trek.

Do you think that since a lot of units will be going to the National Jamboree that same summer that the chances of getting a trek slot would be better?

I would assume so. I went with my troop back in '06. We got our spot after submitting a few years earlier I believe.


On a side note, the troop I went with to summer camp asked me to consider going to Philmont with them hopefully in '10, this time as an adult leader

I would not think so since Jamboree is an individual registration & Philmont is an unit registration. We have a number of scouts registering for Jamboree & our troop will also do the Philmont lottery for 2010.

I'll probably do both as I can get the time off. I am hoping to volunteer for Jamboree.

My troop is looking at trying to get a Philmont slot for 2010. In fact, they want a slot DURING the Jamboree thinking there won't be too many others there.

They're going to Ely in like a week, working on a Seabase slot for next summer, and hoping for Philmont in 2010. Lots of money spent..
