Birthday ideas

Hey guys, one of my sons will be on a Philmont trek during his birthday. I bought a freeze-dried ice cream sandwich in lieu of a birthday cake. Have any other ideas?

For a real surprise bring a tin of sardines. After he goes to bed, open it and slip it under his tent.

But seriously, it's been quite a while since I've backpacked. They didn't have freeze dried ice cream sandwiches back then. What I would bring for a treat was instant pudding with powdered milk. After a long day on the trail it was outstanding.
