Sam Houston Area Council "Jamboree"

I spent this weekend with 15,000 other scouts at SHAC JAM, the Sam Houston Area Council Jamboree. It was quite amazing. There were activities for Venturers, Boy Scouts and Cubs. Another volunteer and I led games of "Oh Deer" in the cub area.

At the Saturday evening get-together - in the grandstand of the Texas Motor Speedway - we heard a great talk from scoutmaster and astronaut Mike Fossum. The highlight, however, was a visit by Baden-Powell's granddaughter, who led us in the oath and law. This is her first visit to the colonies. The fireworks show afterwards lasted about a half hour.
