Well I just have to say this year’s summer camp that we attended was amazing. It was my first time there. The camp is Onteora Scout Camp in Livingston Manor, NY. Wow it was such a great camp, highly recommended. Many scouts in my troop loved it enough to get applications so they can come back as staff next year. The camp was great but my troop was horrible as usual but this time not as SPL I focused more on the program and enjoyed it thoroughly. The camp really reminds you of the great program scouting is. For the week our troop was there I was the Editor in Chief of the camp newspaper Beaver Tails. The camp is newly reopened was closed for about 10 years but reopened about 3 years ago. Out of the 6 weeks of camp this year 3 are sold out. One great thing is there is no limit to the amount of scouts in a merit badge class, no one gets left out.
They are very helpful too. One scout in my troop has trouble swimming but was going for the swimming merit badge. The Aquatics Director spent hours after class teaching this scout how to dive until he was finally able to do it. When he finally got the dive everyone at the water front broke into applause. The scout later came back to the Aquatics Director and gave him his swimming face mask that he used and told him thanks to him he doesn’t need that anymore.
I can gaurantee I will be on staff there next year.
