Completed TDC on Saturday and it was a long day. However, I did learn a lot.
I had two folks at my table who were "old" Wood Badgers who will be taking the new course this Summer. They already had committed to not wearing their beads until the complete the course. Also, we had one person, during lunch, have their bead presentation. She had attended the old course in 1997 and attended the new one last year.
During one of our long breaks, had a conversation with someone from my district, who was a past Wood Badge course director (this past summer). Asked if I was planning on being a staffer in the future, and I told him "you bet". He said my name had come up as potential future staffer and I should expect a call for one of the 2009 courses. That got me really excited.
Funny thing is, I am an introvert. Before Wood Badge, I would never have thought to try and be on Wood Badge staff. The idea of getting up in front of people scared the heck out of me. Now, I seek out those opportunities. In the five months since I finished the training part of Wood Badge, I have made over ten Scouting related presentations to various groups and have enjoyed it. These have been Friends of Scouting, an ADHD presentation to two different districts at their round tables (and I will be doing another tomorrow night).
