Can anyone give me information on becoming a BSA certified Range instructor for Rifle and shotgun. Does an NRA range Instructor course
meet te requirements ofthe BSA?
I have a dad who took the course.

Your region holds camp school specific to that each year. Check with your regional office and find out when and where. There is a separate course for Pistol which is Ventuiring Specific.

In the Guide to Safe Scouting you'll find this answer

All rifle shooting activities must be supervised by a currently NRA -certified Rifle Instructor and when on the range, must be supervised by a currently NRA-certified Range Safety Officer

There's a similar quote for shotgun

I know two of our Dads took a course that was offered at a GNYC Council camp.

Although the NRA certification is all that is necessary to take you troop shooting, the council is free to additional requirements to use the council camp range. Our council requires BSA camp school certification to use the camp range.

G2SS does not address whether or not you need a NRA cert to take a venturing crew hunting.

The GTSS does require that use of a pistol requires two things.

1. The person running the event is a NRA Pistol Instructor
2. The youth must particiapate and complete the NRA pistol course.

Not sure on hunting, but would expect the NRA instructor level supervision (rifle and shotgun) and a discussion with a BSA Field Sports Director on safety.

The guidelines usually also specify following the States current laws for hunter education.
