People that Don't Finish Their Ticket

Postby Billiken » Wed Nov 25, 2009 1:39 pm

Three of the six members in my C-13-08 WB Bear Patrol still have not finished their tickets.
They now have less than 3 months to get them completed.

How common is it for people NOT to finish their tickets?

We had one in our patrol. He had a mid life crisis & disappeared completely. I know of a few others from my WB troop. They generally had life issues come up which made them reduce their commitment to scouting. Life happens.

By all means, encourage your patrol mates to finish their tickets. I think it is fairly normal that it takes the entire 18 months.

I have been told that 25% do not finish nationally. I have not seen the basis for this claim.

We had one person in my patrol not complete his ticket.....and he never intended to, which made the rest of us upset. No matter what we would say over the 18 month period, he wouldn't budge. Said that he didn't take Wood Badge to complete a ticket. He said he attended to learn and that was it.

My brother-in-law took the course in the Fall of 2008 and he still has two more ticket items to complete and he is going to be cutting it close. One of his ticket items can't be done until February when he attends and completes the Wilderness First Aid Course.

The number that I was given was that around 85% complete their ticket nationally (or perhaps the number was regionally).

I have only heard of one WB class in our area where 100% of the class finished. Like others say life happens and there is many reasons why people don't finish. I was shocked to find out I was the 4th of 35 to finish in my class and I finished mine in 9 1/2 months.
