High Adventure training

there are many West Coast Councils that offer HAT. This is Supplemental Outdoor training for Leaders in all areas of Scouting. They Cover the outdoor Basics , Climbing,Climbing Instructor, Wilderness first Aid, Mt biking etc. We are considering starting something like this in SW PA. Have any of you taken this Training? If so what Council did you take it in. Would you recommend this to other scouters. If you have not taken it is this something you would be interested in?

I'd Come

I have recently moved to the Penn's Woods Council (Johnstown). I asked about a crew for my daughter and got "picked" to be the Advisor of a reconstitution Crew.

I have not made it to Woodbadge or Powderhorn yet.

I would try to attend such a class as you describe. My only real high adventure training is the two week Cold Weather School I took in the Army. Two weeks of GI Joe in the snow. -20 at night, what fun.

Ed there will be a Powder Horn Close to you in 2008 if approved. It will be a cluster course involving your council and neighboring councils. Also you have a great Council executive. I have known huim since he was a young scout.
Back to the HAT I have been in contact wit a leader of HAT training from Norhern CA and am getting some information to present to my training committee. Again if we get this rolling Conestoga is close to you.
