Got back from A-NCS this past weekend. It was held at Bonner Scout Reservation in NC. Pamlico Sea Base is adjacent to and part of Bonner. It was headed up by Steven Hawkins from FL and a tremendously gifted staff of 6 from the SE Region. First couple of days, there were heavy rains and very strong winds from the NE. Spent most of our time in the pool or in class under a pavilion those days. When the winds dropped to 10-15 mph, we were out in Pamlico Sound with the canoes and rowboats at 6:00 am to make up for lost time. Days typically lasted until 9-10 pm. We had 25 in our class plus 3 recerts. It was a great experience and learned a lot, especially regarding the new BSA Aquatics Supervision: Swimming & Water Rescue and the BSA Aquatics Supervision: Paddle Craft Safety. I would recommend picking up a copy of the new manual: Aquatics Supervision - A leader's guide to youth swimming and boating activities (300 pgs). Final note, it sounds like National has approved Jet Ski's for a couple of camps waterfronts on a test basis for this summer
