Red Wool Jac Shirt

Postby mt_goodrich » Fri Jun 29, 2007 11:22 am

I've searched this whole forum and didn't find an answer, so I decided to ask.

I am interested in purchasing one of the red wool jac shirts. I know I can pick one up from the Scout Shop; however, I have heard that the quality of the new jackets are not as they once were.

I cannot remember where I read, but someone said that another company had these jackets that were of much better quality and of course, a little higher price.

Did I just dream this up? Could someone point me in the right direction?

These are the northern tier version of the red Jacket. 100% heavy weight (30 oz) wool. The northern tier site is actually less expensive than the manufacturer.

Thanks, Frank!

My wife was asking what I wanted for my birthday and I've always wanted one.

I've seen lots of them on eBay around $40-50.

The new red jackets in the scout shop have a lower percentage of wool than they have had in the past. I know our scout shop doesn’t sell many of them and their are some older jackets with the thicker fabric and higher percentage of wool still on the shelve, so check the tags before you purchase.
