Quality of Patches

I am sitting here putting together all of the merit badges and rank badges for our upcoming Court of Honor that will take place on Sunday.

Is it just me or are the patches these days seem "cheap"? I know they are made in China, but I am considering taking some back to get replacements.

Sometimes I find the sewing off (especially the outside border), or they're not actually round. Usually my own boys end up with those, then I buy a new one to replace them.

So, yes, I think the quality has gone down. Too bad the prices haven't

The numeral patches for the new uniforms seemed particularly ragged to me. On the plus side, it was less difficult to get a needle through them, since they weren't as tightly woven.

Boy....your aren't kidding about the prices. We had a successful summer camp and also playing "catch-up" from the past year and a half when the boys were never given their patches. I spent nearly $200.00 on rank patches and merit badges (and merit badge cards/rank advancement cards).

Most of opur troops and packs get free rank advancement including the Eagle Kit. By making Quality Unit it is one of the rewards. Merit Badges are not included.

Are telling me the Boy Scouts of AMERICA does not buy 100% American?

I understand being Thrifty, but Duty to Country comes before obeying the Scout Law (being Trhifty).

I think so...I am excited that these boys will finally be recognized for their efforts. We have a big afternoon planned.

Isolationism aside, it is BoguS that we are forced to buy cheap products at high prices. At least with flags we have the option to buy a quality product that is Made in USA.

If BSA is going to force us to buy cheap schlock that takes away from American jobs then they can at least sell it at Walmart prices!

That is about what our kids earned from summer camp alone this year. A good problem to have!
