FYI - Just got my son the new sash pin/fastener from our local scout shop ($3)

It anchors the sash to the right shoulder.
Looks great on the sash too.

I bought one as a gift for our outgoing SPL. He's a small 9th grader with 45 merit badges on a long sash, so it was definitely needed. And it looks great!

I need to get one of these for my son. He's an 8th grader with 42 MBs and only stands 5'4". We had the sash shortened when he started out, but when he hit 33 MBs he ran out of space so we had to let it out. It'll probably look great as he goes to his EBoR in the next couple of months.
