New Socks???? (summer 2010)

Has anyone else heard that the new (all-green) socks with the black "BSA" at the top/rim are being replaced???
Folks have complained that these socks are like wearing rubber bands.

I sure miss the green with red trim socks.

Thank goodness my son had enough of the old ones. I know that they are all suppose to have the new ones for Jambo, but I doubt if they will kick an Eagle Scout out for not spending a bunch of money on something that is uncomfortable. Besides, I have yet to see anywhere in the Scout literature where it says that we are suppose to throw away what is still good just to replace it. BSA should be the last bastion against the "disposable society". Kind of flies against teh Leave no Trace that we are trying to teach.

Any and all uniforms are acceptable. Any ruules are being made by Your Council not the National Jamboree People

Here's what some of our Scouts are doing.........

They are taking the older green/red BSA socks that are worn out.
The collar/opening/top is usually fine, it's usually the foot that wears out.

Cut the top few inches off of the sock, just above the ankle.
This leaves you with a something that looks like a wrist band.

Wear whatever socks you want, placing the BSA sock "wrist band" over or above them, just above the top of the shoe.

The scout stuff web site has "new" cool max socks that look just like the older centennial socks (green with black BSA.) No experience with either since I bought a life time supply of green & red knee socks.
