What was the official name of the old "military style", Looks like and envelope stuck on your head...McDonalds had a paper version for the cooks - type hat?

I think the BSA's were olive green with a fluer-de-leis patch on the one side.

Another old thread, but still interesting.

A bit of history about the so called "ball cap". The orginal ball cap was called a jockey cap being a descendant of the Mitered cap, and used not only in the early fur trade era, but used also in the French and Indian War being often worn by Ranger units; later, the Rev. War worn by both rebel and British calvary units and fashioned from hard leather.
Additionally, both Milita Units and Line units in the Rev War would often cut down old or worn out tricorns into jockey caps. However the hat of choice during the Rev War was the Red Liberty Cap, known also as a tuque in Canada, this being my own personal preferance during cooler to cold weather with the BSA uniform (I work at the Council level, and they all know that I'm eccentric).

an interesting web site for the liberty cap....

This is indeed an older thread, but I like it.

I like the idea of berets for cermonies. I do a lot of flag retirement cermonies and I like the idea of wearing them.

I also agree with the boonie hats, full protection, espicaly on neck. Thats hwere I get it the worst...

Also. Isnt it if it has the BSA logo, and is sold and made by the BSA, doesnt that make it a uniform hat? I may be wrong, but isnt that true?
