"Patch Magic" removal?

Hi All,

How can I get off that yucky "Patch Magic" stuff off a uniform? I think that's what it is called, it's that iron on patch glue stuff. Yuck!!

you can try "goof off" or "goo gone" i have heard mixed results using these.

<rant> i really wish the scout stores would quit selling patch magic. It doesnt work that good and leaves a big mess. Sewing just isnt that hard. We teach the kids how to sew a button on in one of the cub scout electives we should show them how to sew a patch on. </rant>

I haven't heard of anyone having much luck.

I have one shirt that I used it on. Went to remove and not good. Ended up leaving on. That shirt is my "I have to wear a Field Uniform but don't care if it gets ruined" shirt.

I have the new uniform shirt and my Venturing shirt. I can't sew so I had someone do it for me....and it looks good too.

This stands for buy one, get one (free) at the scout shop. I used that stuff on my son's first cub scout shirt and ended up buying a new one when I couldn't clean up that one.

Goof Off! What do i win?

Ugh. That stuff should be verboten. The only thing that takes it off is denatured alcohol.

I had to remove the troop numerals from one of my uniform shirts (becoming District Chairman).
(I sew on all patches but use a small amount of BadgeMagic to line up patches for sewing, especially on sleeves where its tough on get exact centering/alignment.)

Anyway, I followed the instructions on the BadgeMagic websire using Goo Gone.
It took off the "sticky residue".
Left a slightly darker colored square (maybe 1" sq.) on the Suplex Nylon BSA shirt sleeve.

Next time you'll align your patches with a stapler.

I have a lot of luck aligning patches with a strip of masking tape across a portion of the patch before sewing. I (machine) sew the untaped portion to secure the patch, stop and remove the tape, then finish sewing the patch.
