Leaders Exempt from Paying Fees/Costs

Postby Billiken » Fri Dec 09, 2005 2:54 pm

To what extent does your unit exempt leaders from paying fees?

We cover annual registration fees and up to $25 for things like campouts and other events.

We reimburse for gas on long trips.

No exemption from fees for things like Philmont, etc.

Just curious.

Our troop covers the annual re-chartering fees.

We have at times not required food fees for camp-outs or only asked for 1/2 the boy's fee. Adults pay the same price as boys for special activities.

This all rather depends on how the checking account looks. Some of the adults will pay the full food fee anyway and figure the couple extra bucks for the scouts is a worthwhile expense.

We have re-imbursed for gas for longer trips, but not for our regular local outings.

We cover the recharter fee for trained leaders. We also figure in gas cost for long trips when deciding on the price/person.

Our troop splits recharter fees 50/50. From there, we subsidize leadership depending on the activity.

We used to cover the recharter fees in total. However, in recent years some of the camps we go to require that anyone staying overnight be a registered adult. We encourage parents to come camping with us, if they wish, but this means that we've added a requirement that parents become registered to camp. The result is that we now have more adults registered than boys (almost every boy has at least one parent who will come on a trip at least once/year, and some have 2 parents signed up, + we keep graduated scouts on the charter at least 1 year as an adult to encourage them to stay involved with the troop), on the charter.

End result, we needed to defray the expenses a little, and each adult pays 1/2 of thier re-charter fee.

The troop committee makes decisions to defray adult costs beyond that on a case by case basis. The troop pays for gas expenses for drivers, as an example, though many don't take us up on that.

I haven't been with my new troop for a whole year yet, but they have paid for my summer camp fees and I don't have to pay any campout fees. I'm sure I have to pay re-charter fees, but I haven't been told if I do or not.

I feel blessed to have such a good troop. They are good to my son and good to me.

In our troop the leaders registration is free. All other activities we pay for.
We are going to start being reimbursed for gas.

in our troop, we cover re-chartering fees. when we go to other places besides scout camp (big trips), the adults pay the same price as the scouts. when they go on camping trips with us, usually the all bring in some food, and pool it together, and if theres any campsite fees, they split them.

In my pack (recognizes he's breaking the pattern here) we pay for adult registration, gas on long trips, even uniforms. Also any literature, training material that's of use to the Pack is reimbursed.

My troop pays for rechartering/registration fees for both boys and adults. They also pay for all awards and medals. The only thing the boys are required to pay for is the meals on camp outs and summer camp. Pretty much everything else is taken care of.

In our Troop, all Leaders pay what the youth pay fo an activity. They also must pay recharter fees. As for driving, we give a break to the leader who tows the Troop Trailer (or reimburse gas). Our philosophy is to attempt to keep costs down for everyone.

In our Pack, they pay for Recharter fees and literature used in the Pack program.

With respect to Free Leaders at Summer Camp, both the Troop and Pack divide the actual cost of leader fees by the number of adulsts attending, so all adults pay something, and no one attends for free.
