Does anyone have a "generic schedule" for troop meetings? (as
in we do this at 7:00, this at 7:15, etc.)

Check out a copy of the latest Troop Planning Guide (Program
Guide?), which, I think, is a quarterly thing. My son's Troop
is going t try it for a year, starting next month. [We
sometimes used a year-long planning guide when I was a kid...
It worked great!]

It's printed and bound (no cover) on very thin, grey,
8-1/2"x11" paper.

If your PLC needs structure --a roadmap-- this would be a good
place to start.

If you are a registered scouter, you should be recieving
Scouting Magazine in the mail. If you are the Scoutmaster,
they have monthly program helps in each issue that help you
plan a months worth of activities around a single topic. These
program helps have meeting schedules right down to the minute.

Another great resource is Woods Wisdom. It has similar program
helps, it also has games, skits, crafts, everything you need
to plan a monthly program around a specific subject.

This is a sample troop meeting plan.

Try allowing the Patrol Leaders Council to actually plan the
meetings. Our patrol leaders look at what their members need
for advancement and then the meetings are planned around that
a year in advance. A years worth of meetings are planned in a
day and then each month they are refined/modified if
necessary. It has worked great for many, many years.
Woods Wisdom is a great help but as a Scoutmaster/Leader it is
your job to guide them on the right track...but sometimes a
failure or two aids in the learning process.

We do let the PLC plan the meetings. Its just that majority of
the scouts dont want to do anything. It ends up that my ASPL
and I plan every thing.

It sounds like your SM needs to step in for a little guidence.
Sometimes if you have a topic or theme for the month it makes
it easier to plan activities. Your SM can hold a Junior Leader
Training for the members of the PLC so they have a better idea
of what their job is.
Another option would be to plan nothing for a couple of weeks,
then when the rest of the troop shows up for an activity you
can let the PLC explain that they did not plan anything.
In the next PLC meeting have a reflection or review of the
previous month activities and how you can make them better.
With a little training, a little review I think you might be
able to get your troop headed in the right direction again.

I think the leaders of your troop need to plan a Junior Leader
Training session for the Scouts of your troop. I realize
sometimes with a young troop and not many older scouts for
guidance this can be a difficult task.
