Why do you posters keep on bringing up how he made fun of this scout??? He mentioned multiple times that he apologized to this scout and if Hubert is truly represtenting himself in these posts, this was a very sincere apology.
Hubert, did the ENTIRE troop here you make fun of this scout? Did even a majority? If not, and if this poking fun/joke(s) wasn't spread around, I would highly suggest you NOT make a public announcement to the troop! Think about it, the JASM is supposed to be one of the greatest examples of scouting's values. I'll temporarily assume that not everybody heard what Hubert said. The JASM (him) is constantly supposed to try to instill the points of the Oath and Law in the Scouts (as well as perform his other duties). If a couple of his buddies and the mocked scout where the only ones who heard what he said, then it will be only them who would view any attempt by him to instill scoutings values as hypocritical. All of the other scouts would simply continue to look up to him as before. Obviously, and as stated MANY times before, he has apologized to the scout in what sounds to be a very sincere manner in which case I would hope the mocked scout sincerely accepted it. If he also admits his mistakes to his friends/ the other scouts and expresses his regret in having made fun of this scout, that would say bounds of things about good character on his part (keep in mind to do this away from the other scouts). As a result, he would be looked up to by all.
Anyway, you guys got me talking about his mistake too much when that's not the primary issue at hand.
Hubert, let us know how your dealings with the other scouts go. Mention how you handled it. Did you end up doing what I suggested? Did you do what somebody else suggested? Did you find your own solution? A combo of any of things I just mentioned? I know you said you would try what I suggested, but I realize that somethimes plans can change.
Best of luck!
