How does your unit handle overdrawn scout accounts?

It depends on how much and the timing. If there are pending fundraiser proceeds that we haven't received from council, we wait. Otherwise an e-mail does the trick. We don't have the problem that I think you're asking about.

I assume you mean accounts within the unit's financial controls. Except for the annual fee, we instituted a pay before you play policy a couple years ago to prevent that and it has worked well. If a Scout doesn't get his money in on time, he doesn't go. We will allow the activity leader to make exceptions for last minute people (provide their own food, etc). For our annual fee, we allow 6 weeks to get it taken care of but will allow payments if that is too much for a family at one time.

If you mean "scout dollar" accounts, we do not have a problem with them being overdrawn as we check the balance available before accepting that a fees is being paid that way.

I have never encounter many problems like that. The few that I have encountered were handled on a case by case basis.

Refer them to Requirement 2 in the Personal management MB?

We don't have an issue with anything like this.

All ISA's (Individual Scout Accounts) must be in the black to be recognized at Courts of Honor. This has been the not always adhere'd to policy. Also, prior to a large expenditure (e.g. registration for Summer Camp), deposits are required on a periodic basis to secure and hold their spot. If there are family financial issues then we consider camperships, etc.
