i like to look at the Troop Web sites posted by our members. I have found some very good ones and some iffy ones. I would suggest that members take a look at these sites and if they find anything against BSA policy bring it up here for discussion.

Feel free to check it out. Not much to comment on though. I've started it and I'm working slowly on it, and trying to teach a couple of the kids how to do it as well, so they can take it over.

it is my understanding that having mandatory attedance policies is against BSA policy, as is the requirement for having to have a uniform. Please cite references for these rules and I will apologize

The most common thing I've seen on troop web sites that violates the BSA policies is naming a youth by first and last name. Once they turn 18, it's okay. You're supposed to use first name only or first name and initial of last name. Other than that, be sure to keep everything in the scouting spirit.

Actually, there aren't any BSA policies regarding this. Only guidelines. However, not using the last name of the youth members is a good idea.

You're right, these are our council guidelines. But they make common sense and are in line with general Youth Protection standards.

We name people on ours aswell however it's an online forum and you can't view anything unless your name is accepted by myself. And you can't get accepted unless you send me an email notification giving me evidence that you are related to the troop.

My troop's website is awesome! It was created and is managed by a computer graphics artist. It has many troop photos from campouts and other activities, music in the background, and numerous troop updates! Check it out at http://www.troop-772.org/! Glad to be of service!

Our troop has a website as well but only the front page is open to anyone without a password for protection purposes. We use it more as an information network for members in the troop.

I would really appreciate a good review of our website. We are a brand new troop with 7 Tenderfoot scouts. I started the site, but hope to be ble to turn it over to a scout as soon as possible.

Did you get release forms from all the scouts parents? To post an image or name of any one under 18 you need a release form.
The site is a good site. The only problem I have seen with troop sites is they sometime do not get updated as things happen or change.
Keep it current and it will work for you.
