Have any of you used backpacking hammocks such as Hennessey or Speer hammocks?.... I have been looking around and it seems like done right it would hold up to weather more along with claims of being a better sleep and lighter too.... so what is your take?

Hamocks are great in warm weather, but you need to insulate yourself in cooler/cold weather. At some point the extra weight of insulation become self defeating.

My uncle has a new hammock "tent" that he used on high adventure this summer and has used a few times since. He loves it - even sleeps in at home when he wants to spend the night under the stars. We got 2 inches of rain the night he used it last and he was high and dry!
