Silk Liners

Postby ThunderingWind » Mon Aug 24, 2009 1:37 pm

Do you have a silk liner for your sleeping bag?

How well does it work for you with regard to temp rating of your bag?

I want to try silk inside poly/cotton blend 'bed sheet" bag for summer/light weight bag.

Looking forward to your"well, when I tried....." stories.

I like my Cocoon mummy liner as a warm summer night sleeping bag - it works great as long as the temp does not dip below 55. I used to use it all the time for family backpacking when the kiddies were too little to carry their own sleeping bag and I had to carry all the gear, and I just suffered through the cooler nights.

I really don't like using a liner, because it makes a cramped sleeping bag feel that much more confining. It does add to the temp rating, but enough to make me want to use it. I prefer my down sleeping bag for colder-weather, and just bundle up for extra warmth.

As I see it, the main reason for using a liner is to help keep the sleeping bag clean. I've used one for years.
