Carry canoe on top of car?

Mrs LSR has cleared the purchase of a canoe. I was looking at my car (Toyota Corolla) and how to get it on top. No roof gutters of course! The part that has me really wondering is that there don't seem to be any attachment points under the car in back or front. I'm wondering how I'm going to get it home once I buy it.

There is a kit of rectangular foam blocks with a slot that fits into the gunwales & then sits on your roof. Does not damage the roof. I got mine at REI, but google this: "Riverside Universal cartop canoe carrier kit" to see something similar. The nice thing is that it adapts to almost any car.

The Canoe kit That has the Foam Blocks is excellent. They work well. I would also pad the roof under the blocks as they will move around. Make sure whe n you strap strap two arcoss and around coming inside the car and out the other side and the front and rear tie downs are very important. Go to Wal Mart and get the rachet straps for those they really secure it.
