The AAABA National tournament opened last ngiht here in Johnstown, PA. The Council was asked to have Scouts on hand to hold a garrioson sized flag on the field.
Very few Boy Scouts showed up, many Cubbies that could barely hold the flag, a good deal of adults with the Cubbies and TWO Venturing program reps. The official BSA shirt was required to attend. Only two in our Crew have shirts and no other crews in the area use them.
My daughter and I stood out in the crowd. Many Cubby leaders asked about the program. One leader (who is also a Girl Scout leader) stated she can not wait until her daughter finished 8th grade next May so she can join. This same leader wishes the GS would adopt/join/merge the older GS into the Venturing Program.
Many of the Cubbies recognized my daughter from the Day Camp we had a few weeks ago. She was on staff.
