Is the VOA still relevant?

I am an Advisor for a crew and our council VOA has not done anything I can see in support of the crews. When the VOA plans an event, it is announced a weekend before or not announced at all.

If your council has an active VOA, can you tell me what they do to support local crews? What type of events do they plan yearly? Do they help provide any support for the Ranger Award or other awards? Do they even serve a purpose anymore? Does your crew even know what a VOA is?

Any input would be great.
