Possibly Going to Venturing

Postby pipestone1991 » Tue Aug 14, 2007 4:23 pm

Yep. I'm thinking on going into Venturing with another Troop after I get Eagle (hopefully in October). Where can I get info about Venturing that I should know?

Thanks...I looked and noticed that there is a crew about 5 minutes from my house! I hope to contact them this week,BTW, if I were to join, which bronze award should I earn and also, can I put my AoL on my Venturing shirt? I know I can put my rank.

Bronze award is your choice and yes you can wear your AOL. When you turn 18(BSA) wear the AOL Square Knot

Venturing is not just a high adventure Troop.

Every crew has it's own emphisis and it's own identity. We can't suggest an award for you to earn because it is a very PERSONAL choice and depends on what your interests are.

My post was directed at pipestone, not at you wagionvigil.

He appears to know very little about Venturing.

Pipestone- we have the expected crews in my area that do high adventure but also have crews that are into - Sports, youth ministry, Indian folklore, cooking, video production, and various other hobby type interests. Also have at least one Sea Scout Ship in our district and maybe two more in the Council. Depending on your choices you can really get involved with crews that suite you.

Thanks everyone for the info. I talked to a friend who knows members of the crew and is going to call me with the crew's meeting dates so I can check them out.

P.S.-I definetly will be going into a crew, my council has no sea scouting units.
