Funny that you asked this question because our pack will be doing an over-niter in two weeks. I have no details yet since we just joined the pack and I have been going through my gear trying to determine what I should bring. My stove and coffee pot are not an option, they will be going regardless of what plans there are. I am hoping to get more information from our Den Leader on Tuesday night. I don't want to show up and out do the Cubmaster if he has something special planed but a nice Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler might be nice for cracker barrel for our Den :P

Craig glad you are back in the program Now go get trained. Things have changed greatly since you were in before. Get on line and register on myscouting and start taking the online training. You need your membership # to register. Take all the Cub Scout things plus Safety afloat, Safe swim, Weather awareness. Not surprising BSA make major changes on a yearly basis and not knowing of those changes can be a bad thing.
you have some great scouters in that council that can help you. Rick Neff, Mark Milliron, Chuck Cruikshank to name a couple.

Come on  I have already completed all the online training so far except Safe Swim Defense. I was going to do that one tonight :P I am going to Round Table Thursday night and am looking forward to Baloo training and the other advanced training. :) Our first Den Meeting is tomorrow night and a good scout is always prepared. I will defiantly look up the guys you named though, I am always looking to learn new things.

Cheers

Well, we're back. All went... great. The facilities problem worked itself out. When you gotta go, you gotta go.

The food was awesome. If everyone that stated that they were going to buy a dutch oven for outdoor home use does buy one, then go get your Lodge stock today.

Some things that need to be on lists for Cub Scout camping: "pre" prepare as much of the cooking as possible. Pre fry the bacon and sausage. Pre crack the eggs and keep in a bottle. Pre make the toppings for the different cobblers. You get the idea. I think that I would have lost my mind if I had not done that part ahead of time.
Bring along as many old Scouters as you can. It shows the parents stability and reinforces that continuity from the Pack to the Troop is ongoing and not taken for granted.
Oh and have a long story for the campfire memorized and on hand. All of the Dens skits compressed into a very short amount of time.
