Best Day for Den Meeting?

Postby drumorgan » Sun Jun 05, 2011 8:14 pm

What has worked out for you to have a Den meeting? I was thinking we could do "right after school", "right after work", or "on the weekend". I know what preference I have, but I also need to find the time that that parents and Cubs can make it the easiest.

You already answered your question. You have to find out what works best for the parents and cubs. You mentioned in another thread that you are a Tiger leader, so parents too.

My boys always had theirs in the evening, as opposed to right after school, and Monday always seemed to avoid the most potential school conflicts.

Part of the "When", is the "Where".

Find out from your Cubmaster what the Pack traditionally does for meeting place/times. Many Charter Organizations supply a meeting place for den and Pack meetings, and require some kind of registration for when you want to use the space. If yours does not supply a meeting area, you might have to find your own meting place, or use your home.

My Pack is chartered (owned) by the men's club of our local Catholic Parish. The Parish has a meeting room in the school building for the Scout groups (Cub, Boy, and Girl). We also use the school hall/gym for our Pack meetings. At the end of May we have to give the Parish Secretary all of the times, and dates, of our den, and Pack, meetings for the next school year. She then puts together the Parish Calendar making sure there are no conflicts for use of any of the facilities.
