Camp Merit Badge Counselors

Postby Bill Pitcher » Fri Oct 31, 2008 8:53 am

Here is a question: We have a scout who taught Swimming and Canoeing MB's at summer camp. He signed off the requirements and the Waterfront Director signed the Blue Cards and returned them to the SM. Can that boy still sign off requirements for these MB's, including the swimming requirements for rank, for the troop, even though he is 17?

The only signature for merit badges that is important is the final signature of the MBC, who would be over 18. The MBC is the person who sets the standard on when the requirements are met or verified. I think having qualified scouts to help is a great idea.

The requirements for rank is another subject & is for the SM to decide. If you are following SSD for your aquatic activities, then there is some one over 21 watching the aquatics anyway.
