Eagle Scout Mentor pin

My experience is that the Mentor Pin is given to someone who has been involved in the scout's scouting career but it's his to give.

Define "involved in". Any person who influences a young man to the extent that he pursues the rank of Eagle and upholds the scout law and oath in his everyday life would appear to be a mentor to me. You're right it's up to the scout.

Agree. "Involved in" usually defaults to SM, ASM, Eagle Mentor or parent most of the time.

Our troop had an Eagle Court of Honor last night for two brothers. They decided to do it together. They gave out 4 mentor pins - 2 each. (1) scoutmaster, (2) favorite merit badge counselor, (3) youth pastor who acted as Master of Ceremonies for COH, (4) Senior Pastor who helped them through the passing of an older sister earlier this year. All in all all four where shocked. Made for a good night. BTW - as scoutmaster this is my 3rd pin and in many ways makes up for all the time invested.
