Yeah, got mine a few years ago.
If you're an
Eagle Scout, now is definitely the time to bite the bullet and
support NESA;
but, save yourself $70 before it goes up to $250. (Maybe you could contribute your savings to your local FOS.
)
Comparatively speaking, my DAV LM was $150 a few years ago. If my memory serves, it went up to $250 the following year. However, OT1H, DAV ran a lengthy LM campaign (about a year) encouraging LM at such a ridiculously low price. OTOH, DAV knew they were going to raise the price, but withheld that fact until the latter part of the campaign. Even so, their LM campaign was very effective.
What I'm getting at is: Now that NESA has announced the dues increase, I sincerely hope they have a LM campaign plan in place. If not, they're gonna loose out on a very real opportunity to seriously boost LMs before the price increase -- Once June 30th passes... that opportunity will turn into a pumpkin.
In fact, I'd go so far as to say, NESA might consider extending the dues increase date out to December 31, 2011

- This would give folks (young or old, well-to-do or not) adequate time to "budget" $180 towards a NESA LM and feel like they're getting a great deal.
- And, quite frankly, I'm thinking of it as a "marketing" tool, you know? -- "This is such a great 'deal', we're extending it, just for 'you'! -- You just can't let this opportunity pass by!"
- Plus, it would give NESA a more appropriate amount of time to run an effective LM campaign.
JMHO.
*NOTE: It may be that NESA's FY runs from July to June... just guessing. Personally, I think extending it out to
next July would not be worth the effort. If it's just too much trouble to make the bean counters handle the dues increase in the middle of their FY, then just press forward as it is; but still...
launch a crash LM campaign over the next three months! And, I'm not talking about just pushing it through social media alone. I'm talking about boots-on-the-ground, personal appeals (handshakes and flyers; even telephone calls) by those who are already NESA LMs at Roundtables, et al.
