Eagle time line?

Postby kimberbakos » Mon Dec 01, 2008 1:25 pm

My son will have his project completed sometime in January, and we are trying to guesstimate what a good time for his COH would be. His grandparents are all halfway across the country and wanting to come and buy tickets in advance.
We are hoping to have his BOR on Feb. 25th (the same date his great-grandfather became an Eagle Scout in the 1920s.
How long does it take to get the paperwork back from TX after it is submitted?
I'm hoping that April 12th is a safe date. That is the last day of Spring Break and would allow family to come up w/o having to take time off of school. That gives us 7 weeks from the BOR to the COH. Do you think that will work?

We have always been told 4-6 weeks, although it has generally been much shorter.

It is all done through the internet now I would call the Service center and ask them. THe person at your service center that oes that stuff should have a pretty good idea.

You do know that April 12, 2009 is Easter, right?

Best wishes to your son as he completes his journey to Eagle.

Since our council office e-mails the application to National, it is pretty quick coming back. Our last one took 10 days!!! You never know. I guess that it depends upon where on the pile it lands!
From when the paperwork comes back, we allow 6 - 8 weeks to gather dignitary letters, make the reservation for the location, send out invitations, etc. Check with the Troop leaders and the Troop calendar, the politicians, and the relatives, to make sure everyone you want to attend, CAN!

The dealings I have recently had with your council about Venturing this does not surprise me in the least

Are you sure they were submitted to National? Call 972-580-2000 and ask for Mr. Bill Steele (NESA) and he can either figure it out or get someone hot on it.

In my opinion it was never submitted. Go to your service center and shake some doors. If you get no response let me know I will speak to the area 4 director about it.

Bill Steele is the NESA guy. I offered him as a POC since I thought they did the certificates.

Bill Evans is the Director of Advancement

The lady couldn't/wouldn't tell you if it had been received/processed?

I just got off the Phone with the Secretary at our service center that takes care of the Eagle Applications. She said no more than 2 to 3 weeks maximum. She also said that you must make sure that it was not unusual to have to it send twice. It sometimes does not go the first time. You need to go to your service center and ask some questions. IS it possible that the service center was never given the application after the EBOR?

Troop Leadership - Yes
District - Maybe if they were asked. Once I do an EBOR and sign application, the troop is responsible to get it to Council. Most times the next time I see the boy's name is in the newspaper.

I think National could have done a quick search for him and given him a yes/no answer on if they had seen it. 30 second effort.
