Getting Council to Update to 21st Century

Postby FieldSports » Tue May 20, 2008 12:20 am

A large number of units are using Troop Master, et. al. However, the Council is not using on-line registration. The Council web master is pretty savy with software. I have no clue on what it takes on the Council side to implement this.

Question, how hard is to set up the interface between the Council system (Scoutnet?) and PC based systems? Any sugestions on how to approach implementation?

No idea what might be involved, but I can certainly understand being frustrated not being able to use the system to upload the troop information and check that it is correct.

My main complaint about our Council's web site is that it is always outdated and running behind on info. Problem that I heard was that ANY changes has to be approved by the Scout Executive and things can sit on his desk for weeks.

Our Council has been using Internet Rechartering and Internet Advancement for a couple of years now.

I think it is great, saves time, records interface into Scoutnet which is the national database.

I would make a push of your District and Council reps to look into it. Makes quick work of both rechartering and advancement.

And internet recharter will let you recharter "inactive" but paying scouts.

Sorry...I'm in a good mood today and having a little tongue in cheek :P

Actually both programs are excellent.
