just for fun topic

Postby spl08 » Mon Jun 02, 2008 2:41 am

For those of us on facebook, can anybody think of any scouting related themes to put into their facebook status update? Other than something to the effect of
spl08 is... at the campout

i'm looking for more of something slightly comical while still being somewhat accurate (and most certainly positive) about scouting such as:

spl08... saved sombody from drowning while simulatneously performing CPR on a seperate victim and finding directions out of these densely forested and dangerous woods during a hailstorm and did so successfully all because he was prepared.

I don't know dude. I have over 120 friends on facebook and I can only think of tw who are involved in scouting (wagion and another guy form his council) so I really don't do the scouting updates as noone would understand.

EDIT: Come to think of it, I have 4 scouting friends on facebook.

I guess that makes four of us that are on Facebook.

I have quite a few friends on Facebook that are alumni of the troop. It has been a great way to stay in touch with them.

I created a facebook account because of Scouting! A DE friend of mine had some pictures on her site that I wanted to see, and the only way I could see them was to create an account. Seeing as I only have 10 or so friends on there, most of them are Scouters.

My status up date the first weekend of June was that I was drying out after a wet weekend of camping with the troop!

Yeah I have more friends in scouting who are also on facebook so it works out alright for me to post a scouting related status update. But I do see the point mentioned earlier; it's kinda pointless to have a scouting related facebook update if you don't have many scouting friends on your account.
That I can think of, I don't have any scouting friends on myspace, but then again, I really don't ever use my myspace (does anybody really use myspace much anymore?).

I'm glad Bill asked. I don't guess I know either. If it's another you tube option, I may never need it. But I hope those that need one are safe, and use it wisely.

Bill it is a quick way of getting people that have a commonionterest together and get information. A troop can set it up as a Private page that you must be invited to join and the approved. I am in charge of WVU's alumkni band and we set page up last year. We now have close to 400 members that are on it out of our 1800 mailing list. The mailing list is soon to be cut down to under 1000 so we will be close to half as members of the page. IN OCtober we had 400 folks come to Homecoming and it really helped with important information
