Merit badge tracking

Postby T129ASM » Wed Jan 07, 2009 1:08 pm

I suppose this goes along the lines of the Advancement tracking poll, however, I am looking for a spreadsheet or calc, or chart, to track merit badge completion, and I don't want to re-invent the wheel. I have looked at the sheet on ScoutTrax.com, and some of it might work, however, I am looking for something simple.

Thank you!

Prior to moving to TroopMaster a couple years ago, I used an Excel spreadsheet. Scout names across the top and badges down the first column. The I just colored in which badge had been earned so it was very easy to see who had what.

We do not track partials, only completed badges.

There is also a wall chart available from the scout shop that will also work.

i use our councils internet advancement website. Loads the roster up and i can see ranks, merit badges, etc for each scout. I would check w/ your council as there might already be a tool that you can use for free.

Sorry to be vague.

I use TroopMaster 2008 to track everything, but the boys would like something on the wall at our meeting place so that they can see how they are doing on merit badges.

Thanks!

If you use TM, then you know there are reports you can run that show MB Matrices. I do one for the Required Badges and post it on the wall. You can also print out a report partials as well if you track them. The wall chart can be used but can also be a nightmare to keep updated.

Anyone have any experience with ScoutData? Is it comparable to Troopmaster?
